The Calculators Produce Estimates
Every tool on JetAlt models a physical relationship or industry convention using representative values rather than certified, aircraft- or fuel-specific data:
- The emissions toolsapply a standard factor of about 3.16 kg of CO2 per kg of jet fuel. This is combustion (tailpipe) CO2 only — it excludes upstream production emissions and non-CO2 effects such as contrails and nitrogen oxides, which can materially increase aviation’s total climate impact.
- The SAF savings tool uses the lifecycle-reduction percentage you enter. Real lifecycle values are certified per fuel batch and production pathway and vary widely; our figure is an illustration of the arithmetic, not an accredited result for a particular fuel.
- The fuel-burn tool uses class-average burn rates. Actual burn depends on the specific aircraft and engines, payload, altitude, speed, winds, routing, and taxi and holding time.
- The energy, range, and cost tools use representative specific-energy, density, efficiency, and price figures, and deliberately ignore complications such as tank weight and volume, reserves, real flight profiles, taxes, and fees.
Not a Guarantee
Nothing on JetAlt guarantees the emissions, fuel, range, or cost of any real flight, aircraft, or fuel. Those outcomes depend on certified data and conditions we do not control. Use the tools to build intuition and compare scenarios, then confirm anything that matters:
- Check emissions and fuel figures against the operator’s or manufacturer’s certified data.
- Use a fuel supplier’s accredited lifecycle values for real SAF claims.
- Rely on qualified engineers, analysts, and official regulators for operational or investment decisions.
